OUR LOCATION

As shown by the icon on the image above        we are situated in Caol, approximately 3 miles from Fort William.

Local Amenities

The house is a short walk to the Co-op supermarket which is open 7.00 to 23.00.   The local pub and restaurant, The Lochy, is just around the corner and provides excellent, reasonably priced, freshly prepared meals with generous portion sizes.   My personal favourite is the steak and black pudding pie.  As well as this, there are also several takeaways within walking distance including Bake N Roll Cafe, Sammy's fish and chip shop, The Golden River Chinese and Awkward Eater which provides a variety of food such as pizzas and fajitas including a vegan and gluten free menus.   There is also a post office, chemist and a hairdressers all within walking distance.

Getting Around

It is a 5 minute walk to Banavie train station with routes to Mallaig, Fort william and Glasgow. There is a bus stop at the end of the road with routes to all destinations in the Fort William area.  There are also several  local taxi companies.   There is also ample on street parking if you have your own car.

Local Activities

Fort William is probably best known because our Highland town is located at the foot of the highest mountain in the UK - Ben Nevis.  Being in the outdoor capital of the UK  there is no shortage of things to do including climbing, walking, sailing, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding or cycling.  The Caledonian Canal cycle and walking route which forms part of the Great Glen Way is at the end of the road, a minutes walk away.  If you fancy doing something more indoors then why not try the Jacobite steam train doubling as the famous Hogwarts Express , a glass of whisky at the world famous Ben Nevis Distillery, enjoy a loch cruise or just spend some time looking at the shops in the town centre high street.

For further information regarding the local area and recommendations for eating and drinks, please see our guestbook.

GUEST REVIEWS

Nice home with plenty of space. The property is within walking distance of the train station and a local bar which serves food, should you want to eat out. The heating was on for our arrival, which was very much appreciated.
